That's why I suggested adding 1 of those plus a football only.


If the ACC added UConn (or WVU if possible but Big XII in the way) plus a football only like Navy or BYU, Notre Dame could stay in the current situation as long as they want. Just make the football only member a contract member with terms ending the same time as Notre Dame's contract ends for football. They can renew at the term end, or if Notre Dame decides to join at some point, the football only can go back to independent. The ACC could end the contract with them, or the ACC could flip them over to a 5 games like Notre Dame is doing.

If the ACC added two, then it would force a move to 20 if Notre Dame decided to join. This way we can stay at 16. I think the ACC could convince Navy, BYU, or perhaps Army to do this. Navy is in the AAC now, but maybe they could come to the ACC, and Army could replace them in the AAC. Some think BYU is too far away, but they are a valued football brand.
